Winter tree planting 2019/20

This winter, Kingston Council will be planting 600 trees across the borough.

We will be prioritising areas of poor air quality (particularly those outside schools), areas of low tree coverage and requests from our residents.

We want your input on where you would like to see new trees planted this winter and invite you to select three locations in our survey.

All available planting locations in the borough are listed, including roads with space for new trees in existing pits, suitable grass verges and local parks.

We also want to know what type of trees you would like to see more of in the borough.

To find out about the tree species we're planting this year, their unique characteristics and what environments they are best suited to please check out our photo library before completing the survey.

There are a limited number of each species available but we will try our best to match these trees to your specified locations. However, the ultimate decision will be made by a suitably qualified officer, who will take your preferences into account, but also look at local conditions of the site to determine which trees will flourish there.

We aim to fulfil all requests this winter, but if we receive a particularly high number of requests, some may be rolled over to next year.

The final 2019/20 plan will be available at the end of October. Please subscribe to stay informed.

Residents who are interested in getting more involved in the planting and maintenance of trees can also join our new Tree Warden programme. Find out more here.

Thank you for helping to shape our tree planting plan.
