School Streets - Mansfield Road

We are trialling a scheme on Mansfield Road in Chessington, which leads to Lovelace Primary School. We are running this scheme in direct response to issues raised by residents and councillors.

The school street schemes are not feasible for every school location and so, it is important to note that this scheme is a trial and as such will form the basis of future schemes depending on its success.

The scheme is being trialled through an Experimental Traffic Management Order (ETMO) which allows councils to run consultation alongside the trial periods.

For the Lovelace trial, we have been given permission from the King’s Centre to use their car park as a park and stride* location (5 minutes walk**). If you are driving to the school, please only use this location and not any surrounding roads to park, including Stormont Way, Holsworth Way, Devon Way, Tiverton Way, Newlands Way, Ripon Gardens, Woodgate Avenue, Cheshire Gardens, Coppard Gardens, Merling Close and Arnold Drive.

NB *The trial will be using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to monitor the scheme. Residents of Field Close, Gibson Close, Tedder Close, Mansfield Road from the junction of Coppard Gardens (towards Lovelace Primary) and properties that have garage access on Mansfield Road are exempt from the scheme only. If you live in any surrounding roads, you will not be able to apply for an exemption.

Please see our frequently asked questions for more information including how to register your vehicles and answers to any queries you may have.

Ways to have your say

  • Fill in our short survey below - please note that the scheme is a trial over six months, and we would welcome your comments throughout this period.
  • Plot on our interactive map - you can let us know where you believe poor parking is currently. Later, there will be a map where you can pinpoint whether the issues have moved.

*Park and Stride - parking away from the school and walking/scooting or cycling the rest of the way

**The walk time from the King’s Centre to Lovelace has been taken from Google Maps and will depend on individual circumstances.

Parking displacement map

12 months

The School Streets Scheme encourages people to park away from the school to encourage more walking, scootering and cycling.

A potential byproduct of the scheme is displacement of vehicles to other roads.

Please use this map to show where parking has been displaced since the start of the scheme.

Remember that we have been encouraging the schools parents and carers to use the Kings Centre as a location to Park their car and walk from.
