The school street trial for Alexandra School on Princes Road will be a timed closure between 08:15-09:30am and 14:30-15:45pm during school term times only starting from 14 September 2020.
We are running this scheme in direct response to issues raised by residents and councillors.
This scheme uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and runs the full length of Princes Road, continuing on Arthur Road and Borough Road. The scheme will also be trialling a one way system that will run from the junction of Park Road entering Princes Road ending at Borough Road junction with Park Road. If you live on the 'Farthings Estate, please only register if you use the car park/garages accessed from Borough Road. If you live on any of these roads, you are exempt from the restrictions but MUST register your vehicle here - please note that this will be available from 4 September 2020.
Please note, that the scheme will run using ANPR cameras, but at present, there are no cameras enforcing the school street. Please do still follow the current restrictions. Cameras will be installed in October 2020.
If you are a parent at the school, we encourage you to make sustainable travel choices where possible including walking and cycling. If you do need to drive, you must not enter the restricted zone, park safely and walk the rest of your journey.
You can return to the School Street homepage here.
Please see our frequently asked questions for more information on the scheme.
Ways to have your say
Fill in our short survey below - please note that the scheme is a trial of at least six months, and we would welcome your comments throughout this period.
Plot on our interactive map - you can let us know where you believe poor parking is/has been before implementation of the trial. The second map is to pinpoint whether the issues have moved to other areas

Following feedback from residents, we want to ask for your feedback about the current one way system in operation in Princes Road as part of the School Street scheme. We have set up this short survey so you can tell us whether you think it I you would like to retain the one-way system as currently, or have it switched so that it runs one way in the opposite direction.
