Have your say and shape the future of Kingston

What is this all about?

This consultation sets out the challenges we face and asks for your thoughts on how we could tackle them to ensure our borough continues to thrive up to 2041.

Kingston’s population is set to grow and we are expecting a challenging housing target to be set by the Mayor of London of about 30,000 new homes between 2019 and 2041. We also need the jobs, infrastructure and transport links to support our growing population while creating places that contribute to health and wellbeing and a great quality of life.

The Local Plan will set out a vision for the future of the borough and guide what development goes where, including homes, schools, infrastructure and transport links.

To ensure we get this right, and develop our living, working, travelling, and leisure environments in a way that enhances the wellbeing of residents and their quality of life in the borough, the insights you provide will help successfully manage the changes that will need to be made.

We need your vision for the future of the Royal Borough of Kingston

  • What will our neighbourhoods feel like in the future?
  • What homes and workplaces do we want?
  • How do we move around? How do we use our parks, squares and streets?
  • What role do our health services play in our lives?
  • How do we learn?
  • How do places feel as we change and grow older?

We value your views

This is the first step in creating our plan for the future. Take some time to have your say and let’s make Kingston better, together

After this stage, we will use the consultation feedback and evidence to draft a new Local Plan. We will then consult on the draft document to enable you to give us your views about the policies and strategy.

How can you have your say?

Attend our events - We are running dedicated workshops throughout July. Please select and register for those you wish to attend and are relevant to you.

Complete the survey - There are questions covering a range of topics from housing, design and infrastructure to businesses, jobs, and transport in our survey.

You don't have to respond to every question, but we encourage you to answer as many as you can. This will help us capture a clearer picture of what you and fellow Kingston residents would like to see, and ultimately aspire to achieve.

Have you pinned yet?

Check out the Places tab, which shows a zoomable map of the borough, on which you can pin your choices of development activity.
