Consultation has concluded
The Gambling Act 2005 requires the council, acting as the Licensing Authority, to prepare and publish a Statement of Policy and Principles at least every three years. This policy outlines the principles followed in exercising the authority’s functions under the Act. The authority’s current Statement of Licensing Policy was approved by the council in December 2015 and came into force on 31 January 2016. This policy was further amended in November 2016 following changes to legislation.
In accordance with the Gambling Act 2005 a revised Gambling Statement must come into force on 31 January 2019. We want to consult our residents, local businesses, associated trade bodies, responsible authorities and other stakeholders, to hear your views on the draft statement.
To help you respond to the consultation, the changes we are proposing are clearly indicated in the draft statement. You will find this document and the local area profile in the box to the right.
One specific area of policy we would like your feedback on is the no casino policy detailed in paragraphs 80-82.
The consultation will run for a 12 week period until 30 September 2018 when we will consider all the responses and amend the draft as appropriate. The Licensing Committee will review the updated policy on 30 October 2018.
