We asked
We shared draft plans for the revamp of Knollmead playground and asked for your views.
You said
The feedback on the plans was positive and included:
Generally happy with the proposal but some residents felt that there were too many features for very young children and that more equipment for older children would encourage families to spend more time at the playground.
Requesting more climbing equipment.
We did
Based on your comments we have revised the plans for Knollmead playground. The changes are:
Climbing apparatus
Our younger residents expressed a preference for more challenging climbing equipment. A large Ixo multiplay structure has been planned in response.
We have removed
Due to concerns that there were too many features for very young children, we have removed the kidsy multiplay unit and junior slide from our plans and replaced them with a large Ixo multiplay structure with climbing, sliding, swinging and imaginative play as well as a double perch - a modern take on a traditional seesaw, where children can sit or stand on either end.
Next steps
The works on site are due to start in March 2020 during which time the playground will be closed for an estimated duration of 6 weeks.

We asked
We shared draft plans for the revamp of Churchfields playground and asked for your views.
You said
The feedback on the plans was positive and included:
Asking for more than one trampoline and additional climbing structures.
Requesting equipment with a natural wooden design to match the appearance and character of the park.
Emphasising the importance of the inclusion of accessible equipment.
Wanting more sensory equipment - recommending totem poles.
We did
Based on your comments we have revised the plans for Churchfields Recreation playground. The changes are:
Inclusive equipment
You requested additional items were made accessible and in response an inclusive hammock swing has been added to the Monkey Jungle Zone and the roundabout in The Bug Discovery Zone has been made accessible for all.
Additional trampoline
We agreed with your feedback that trampolines are a popular feature in other parks within the borough, so we have included an additional trampoline in the Crocodile Swamp Zone to help address the predicted demand.
Climbing apparatus
Our younger residents expressed a preference for more challenging climbing equipment, so we have introduced a large Ixo multiplay structure to the Monkey Jungle zone.
A natural wooden design
Community groups had a preference for some of the equipment to have a more natural design. The Bug Discovery Zone now includes a wooden play train, log steppers, a clatter bridge and swinging steps with an appearance to match that of Churchfields surroundings.
Totem Poles
Feedback suggested that totem poles would be a welcome addition to the Sensory Sandpit Zone. This area will now feature fox and badger animal posts, a height and hand totem, as well as a minibeast and treasure map totem. The poles will add sensory options whilst providing the natural, wooden finish requested for the playground.
Next steps
The works on site are due to start in March 2020 during which time the playground will be closed for an estimated duration of 6 weeks.
