Consultation has concluded

As part of the council's Small Sites programme, it intends to appropriate open space land to the rear of 204-210 Cambridge Road for planning purposes, with the intention of building new affordable homes for rent.

To learn more about our plans and the Small Sites programme you can download a number of documents, including:
  1. The Public Notice of appropriation
  2. A plan of the land we are appropriating
  3. The Statement of Community Involvement for the Small Sites programme

The council is committed to delivering much needed affordable homes to help meet the housing needs of local residents. The first phase of our Kingston Small Sites programme will see 101 homes built on four sites across the borough, including on land to the rear of 204-210C Cambridge Road.

Planning permission has been granted for the homes and the contractor is due to start work later in the year. Construction will only commence once the council's ecologist, and the Local Planning Authority, are satisfied that the pre-commencement conditions, including those relating to ecology, have been met.

Part of the development process includes appropriating land to be used for housing purposes. This notice sets out the Council's intention to use the land identified in the plan for housing purposes.

Engagement with residents on the housing proposals commenced in June 2020. Full details of the engagement process can be seen in the Statement of Community Involvement. Statutory consultation was also undertaken by the Local Planning Authority.
