Statement of Community Involvement

All local authorities are required to have what's called a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). This document explains how the council will involve residents, local groups, stakeholders and statutory consultees in preparing the council’s planning policy and guidance documents, and in the process of deciding planning applications.

We'd like to hear your views on the new draft SCI - please tell us what you think by filling in our short survey below.

This consultation is being undertaken in advance of the separate public consultation on the Early Engagement for the Local Plan, which will start on 1 May 2019. This will allow us to take account of any views on the consultation techniques and apply these during the Local Plan consultation.

You can read the draft SCI on our project page or alternatively paper copies are available at all libraries within the borough during normal opening hours, and at the council offices at the Information and Advice Centre on the ground floor of Guildhall 2 from 9am–5pm Monday to Friday.

Feedback from the SCI consultation will be considered and a final SCI will be discussed at the Strategic Housing and Planning Committee in September 2019. The report will address all responses received during public consultation and a summary of key changes will be presented to committee. Once adopted the final SCI will be made available on the council's website.
